We always do our best to offer different millésimes (years of production) and thus keep a small proportion of our rose oil production for curing purposes.
High quality rose oil - properly stored - ages very well, developing amazing depth and complexity, like, for example good wines over the years. Just like wines do, their profile constantly and slowly evolves.
We have here some oils still vivid and interesting after 15 years. I do not know what the upper time limit is.
Here, rose lovers can have direct access to different profiles and millésimes, depending on their preferences.
In case it helps orienting real life shows, broadly speaking with many exceptions, medically oriented aromatherapists usually prefer the fresher / young millésimes (which makes sense because as the roses ages, it's chemical profile evolves too) and natural perfumers often the vintage ones. Among others clients who test different oil vintages in real life before buying, it is approximately 50-50%, some take more than one.
To keep things simple we do propose for now only 2 categories of oils on the webshop (regular and vintage), but if you are interested in options, or in a specific millésime (specific year), contact us to see what is still available.
