We always do our best to offer different millésimes (years) and thus keep a proportion of our production for curing. High quality rose oil - properly stored - ages very well, developing amazing depth and complexity, like, for example good wines over the years (similarly, only good roses ages well, just like average or poor wines do not, average or poor rose wont'). Just like wines do, their profile constantly and slowly evolves.
I have here some excellent pure rose oils, which is still mesmerizing after 15 years. And I do not know what the upper time limit is.
This way rose lovers can have direct access to different profiles and millésimes, depending on their preferences. Broadly speaking, of course with exceptions, medically oriented aromatherapists usually prefer the fresher / young millésimes (which makes sense because as the roses ages, it's chemical profile evolves too) and perfumers the vintage ones. Among retail clients who test different oils in real life before buying, it is approximately 50-50% (and many chose to take both).
To keep things simple we do keep for now only 2 categories of oils (young and vintage), but if you are interested in a millésime (specific year), contact us to see if it is still available.
