One of the stars of perfumery, Osmanthus has a unique and delightful fragrance that is often described as gourmand blend of floral, sweet and fruity.

Warm, lush and sensual the scent offers rich flower goodness, yet reminiscent of ripe, or even candied, peaches, lychees or apricots, combined with a rich honey-like sweetness. It's a complex aroma that also offers hints of spice and light discrete green undertones.

The name Osmanthus is composed of two ancient Greek words:  osma meaning or fragrance and anthos meaning flower... It was thus looked at the quintessential fragrant genus of flowers.

The name of the species used in perfumery Osmanthus fragrans thus literally means the fragrant amongst the fragrant flower genus. It might a bit redundant, but does convey a point.

Just like jasmines, osmanthus on its own is much too strong to be worn as such, here it is tuned to the right harmony to brilliantly shine through its sandalwood canvas.  

Sandalwood also bring its own fixative properties to extend the experience in time, but osmanthus express itself through and through... through a heart dominant spectrum, so expect medium longevity.
