A personal East meets West homage to one of the timeless star ingredients of perfumery : Neroli.
Citrus Aurantium (from where the orange blossom oil, known as Neroli, is extracted), is a tree native to the Himalayan foothills, roughly around the confluence of today's India, China & Myanmar.
Through different travel routes, it ended up being christened "Sevillan Orange", having been one of the favourite plants of the divine Mauresque gardens of Al-Andalus, seducing people and finding dozens of uses for perfumery, medicine, food, everywhere in between and beyond. Notably in the Middle-East, the orange blossom (azahar in arabic) is ubiquitous.
It's history in Europe, and particularly at the French court, under the three last Louis's, and of course as central ingredient of the famous original Eau de Cologne, has made Neroli a star of perfumery à la française.
It is those routes, of trading knowledge, aromatics goods, plants, stories (...) and different associated traditions of perfume making that inspired the creation process of Princesse Neroli d'Orient.
A complex, mysterious, enticing, deep, voluptuous aristocratic perfume.
The name is an homage to Marie-Anne de la Trémoille, Princesse de Nerola, who started the orange blossom perfume craze at the French court under Louis XIV, and gave its name to Neroli in the Western perfumery tradition.
