WILD KOH-KONG : sweet delicious agarwood / oud chips from cambodia (A. crassna / single tree)

These delicious delicious raw wild Aquilaria crassna wood chips come from one single tree, ethically harvested in the densely forested and largely inaccessible higher mountains of inner Koh Kong. Many pieces are quite big (see photos).

The wood has a sweet delicate fragrance at room temperature, with a hint of spice

Heated, the olfactive profile is classic for the region, with lovely surprising little variations on the fruit and spice notes.

Using gentle heating (our recommendation of use) , the opening is creamy and fruity (hint of strawberry), after a few minutes some sweet pepperiness blends in with hints of vanilla. Later some notes evoking deep dark fruits (cooked) and pastries.

The overall sum-is-more of the parts that can only be named "Koh Kong's crassna oudiness".

Later the fruit notes subtly transform overtime, in turn evoking notes of lychee, black cherry, or very ripe golden grapes. There are also notes or suede then light leather, some sweet woodiness (evoking sandalwood) and a kind fruit cooked pasty (I get cherry clafoutis, but it could be muffin or cake too).

The wood chips can also be of course burnt for a shorter, more potent (delicious but less nuanced) experience or for incensing a room.

When a wood is labelled wild, we genuinely mean wild: naturally occurring (versus planted), untreated, and responsibly harvested : no tiny or young trees, nor trees with little resin. Only mature and well-infected trees // only in regions where wild harvest is legal.
