ROSE des VENTS (Windrose) - Our hypnotic in-house AMBERGRIS & ROSE attar, 100% pure & natural
Si le chant des sirènes était un parfum...
if the song of the sirens was a perfume : sweet, salty, hypnotic, pheromonal, floral, lightly animalic, addictive, aphrodisiac... is there anything like the sacred union of ambergris and rose ?
Rose des Vents is a mesmerizing attar, 100% pure and natural.
This white ambergris used for the current batch of Rose des Vent is of exceptional. quality. Our ambergris is always collected by hand on a beach or shoreline, where it got naturally stranded. It is then cleaned and expertised.
The evolution of the experience overtime is - for me at least - pure bliss: the rose opens the ball in gloriousness infused by a mysterious charm, then it dances for hours and hours, a slow tango of metamorphosis, as the rose (classically as top and middle note with mild longevity) evolves and the ambergis reveals its essence (a basenote and amazing fixative, also perhaps the only, or one of the very rare, truly pheromonal scents). Each steps generating different accords and surprising notes litchee, ginger, lotus, a sea breeze, etc. Excellent longevity
What is ambergris?
For their sustenance, whales feast on large quantities of cephalopods, such as squids which pass into their digestive system, leading in parallel to a series of biological transformations resulting in forming ambergris : an organic bundle mass by-product, that helps protect their internal organs from the prickly beaks and pens of cephalopods. The Whales naturally reject out ambergris at sea once it grows in size in order to avoid intestinal obstruction, and they start making fresh bundles.
Chunks of ambergris float on the seas under the sun and the storms, sometimes for years until it is collected at sea, or end up washed on beaches and shorelines worldwide. This unpredictable curing process polishes the scent profile; each ambergris is very slightly different. It is is found in lumps ranging from grey to dark brown-colour. The rarest forms (older, subtler fragrance) are found in light grey or quasi white colour. Like all precious aromatics, it is often counterfeited.
Laws regulating the collection and sale of ambergris vary around the world. In the UK and Europe, all living species of whales, dolphins and porpoises are protected by law. However, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) considers ambergris a waste product of sperm whales that occurs naturally, making it legal to collect it from the beach or sea. Please make sure ambergris is legal in your country before ordering. |
