The dried rhizome of Irris pallida, cured and reduced to powder. Organic. Iris pallida is the most delicate, sought after, and costly of the few Iris species used in perfumery.

The powder can be used for tincturing (we recommend 15% in perfumer grade alcohol), as incense component,  or as ingredient for all kind of medicinal and well being formulas, Iris having a very old, rich and multicultural history of uses worth looking into (also including cosmetics, food, beverages, etc.).

Raw, It is has soft, delicate, powdery and distinctive fragrance: dry earthy sweetness.

Used as single-incense (on a heater on medium heat) it keeps these traits but also infuses the room with delicious creamy, buttery notes, a bit like if one where in a traditional bakery at the time of making croissants. It gives a warm, enwrapping, nurturing and safe atmosphere. With close monitoring, as it is a delicate fragrance, one discerns also the distinctive raw cacao notes, here they feel like soft raw cacao powder.

Used in incense blends it can add depth and texture.

The dry rhizome is the basis for orris butter (= pure essential oil) one of the rarest and most exclusive prima materia of high-end perfumery.

This rhizome powder comes from another producer than the Orris Butter, in France.
