 This remarkable Mediterranean evergreen has been associated with Apollo and the Sun (see Apollo & Daphne myths) since The greek Antiquity. It was used to distinguish, poets, athletes and later battle victors throughout the Classical Greek and Roman periods

Customary uses

In perfumery, Laurel is used in fragrances for its aromatic, green, fresh and spicy notes. Good artisan oils, like this one, also have interesting and complex floral overtones. Bay laurel is a favourite of masculine perfumes and is often found in Chypre, Fougère, and Woody or Spicy Orientals.

Since Ancient Greece, Bay Laurel is also used as incense, for oracle divinations, protection, etc. Such uses finds extension in contemporary magick and neopagan movements. As a dry incense, it combines well with frankincense resin and cinnamon bark (among others) for ultimate radiance and dissipation of darker, stagnant energy.

In addition, bay leaf essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy for its medicinal and cosmetic dermatological properties.
