ITALIAN BERGAMOT OIL - The timeless classic
Bergamot essential oil has a long an rich history of use in perfumery, cosmetics, aromatherapy, and as a flavouring in food and beverages.
This quality oil is organic, and produced with care.
It is the distinctive flavouring agent in Earl Grey teas, and more importantly bergamot essential oil was a core ingredient in the original Eau de Cologne, the famous perfume designed by Johann Maria Farina at the beginning of the 18th century.
Citrus bergamia, the bergamot orange is a fragrant citrus fruit the size of an orange, with a yellow or green color similar to a lime, depending on ripeness. Genetic research into the ancestral origins of extant citrus cultivars found bergamot orange to be a probable hybrid of lemon and bitter orange. Use on the skin can increase photosensitivity, resulting in greater damage from sun exposure
The bergamot is native to southern Italy. It is also now produced in Argentina, Brazil, Algeria, France, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey (where it is made into a marmalade), and South-East Asia.
