CRÈME de CITRONNELLE - Deep and complex like an aged rum

This oil is a wonderful little experiment, produced by a famed luxury oud distillers, friend and regular collaborator.

At times, for fun and creativity, we enjoy creative challenges. For example treat common raw materials, like they had all kind of potential beyond the standardized. Work in ways to extract  different facets than what is usually done. For that, we apply reflectively methods from the small scale production of the most expensive raw materials, like oud.  

The raw material is wild, South Asian, locally and ethically harvested by hand.

In this case only the tender heart of the citronnelle (lemongrass) has been used. The lower ends and the top ends (less rich in interesting oil) were discarded for that use. Of course, any degraded or dried leavey were also discarded.

After prepping and short curing the raw material was distilled for 2 days uninterruptedly at low temperature, thus extracting heavier fragrant volatile compounds left out in the 'normal' distillation method, focused productivity (2-3 hours of high pressure high temperature). We only produced around 250 ml of oil.

The oil has then been cured for the depth we wanted to give.

Deep golden robe. Deep and complex profile. Deep experience.

None of the sharpness of the green top notes that lemongrass is usually known for, this oil is like and aged rum with surprising and complex nuances.

Olfactively : Woody, warm, deep naturally candied dry fruits (lemon peel, orange marmelade, apricot).  

The Scentient experience : Extremely grounding and peaceful. Profound.

Citronnelle is not from the citrus family, but olfactively this oil belongs in our Hesperidae collection.
