Important Note : This oil comes from a niche species of Sandalwood. It is an excellent oil, full of fragrant interest and properties, but made from Santalum lanceolatum, a species native of Papua Guinea and Australia, so NOT from Santalum album (which is the most well known species and the most widely used in perfumery)
100% pure essential oil, made from the Heartwood of one wild mature tree, sustainably harvested, artisan distilled during the spring of 2021, and cured with care.
The olfactive profile is deep and generous. It completely feels like a Sandalwood (warm, peaceful, grounding, radiant, smooth). Fragrance wise as well, but with tune of its own : a woody and earthy core, which grows in presence over the first minutes of wear, enriched with interesting floral overtones (evoking neroli & rose's deeper range - both soft), as well as a touch of incense and drying citrus peel (evoking orange & yuzu).
Bountiful, colorful (for a sandalwood) and delightful.
Evolution with a strong opening and first few hours, where the core is dominant and evolving, and then a few more hours of a subtle slightly floral sandalwood aura.
The Santalum lanceolatum species is important in the Australian Northwest, one of its native regions, and the terroir of the wood distilled for this oil. It is traditionally used for medicinal purposes, and placed within the 'timeless' song cycles. The leaves are also burnt as incense. Burdardu is one of its vernacular names.
