The distillation of iris for perfumery is extremely delicate, long and labour intensive. Locally, they refer to it as \"oud saai\", saai being the local equivalent of \"chai\" (tea).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe tea smells like the jungle (in a good way): lush vegetation, fragrant mushrooms and an impression of depth of life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe tea's taste is round, earthy and reminds of good pu-erhs. It is is warming and comforting. It it not strong and has no sharp notes. The texture is remarkably smooth. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a remarkably gentle and soothing drink, that can easily be enjoyed at night (as it contains no caffeine at all).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI personally infuse mine at around 90 degrees Celsius for around 10 minutes, but among my different friends who grew like me very fond of this tea, preferences change. So I encourage you to try your own tweaking. White wood is customarily integrated in distillation practices by many if not most distillers, as it does produce additional oil... but it also dilutes the experience a bit (the oil from such wood being different). Highest quality oils of course do not use any, only incense grade... but they are also much costlier. .\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs a consequence, the profile is not a powerhouse and the longevity is medium \/ good but not exceptional.
